The Alamo Police Department is constantly striving to create a society for our citizens that is free from crime and disorder. However, recognizing that this will always be an unachievable ideal, we have prepared a primary and secondary list of objectives:
In order to achieve these goals, the Alamo Police Department works closely with the City Commission, Fire Department, Streets Department and the Public Works Department.
The Police Records Division processes, files and maintains all police reports received by the department. This Division also processes all requests for copies of reports. The unit currently handles over 14,000 records each year in addition to filing accident reports and Uniform Crime Reports with the State of Texas. The following reports are available in person or by mail:
To obtain a copy of an accident report, you may request it by mail or in person from the Records Division, located at 423 N. Tower Rd. If you do not have the report number, you must provide a name of a person involved in the accident, the location of the accident or the date of the accident. There is a $5.00 fee for a copy of an accident report. If requested by mail, please include a $5.00 check/money order made out to the City of Alamo. Call (956) 787-1454 for further assistance. We cannot release information about an accident report over the telephone. Reports can be picked up during business hours Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Closed on Holidays).
If you received a CRB-2 form (commonly referred to as the “blue” form) this is a driver-generated accident report. Fill out the form, make a copy for your files and send the form to the Texas Department of Public Safety at the address listed on the form. The Alamo Police Department will not have any additional information on these accidents. Additional forms can be picked up at any police department or obtained from the Texas Department of Public Safety website.
An offense report is generated whenever a crime is reported, and includes but is not limited to: burglary (of vehicles, homes, or businesses) theft, assault, criminal mischief, etc.
To obtain a copy of an offense report, you may request it by mail or in person from the Records Division, located at 423 N. Tower Rd. You must provide one of the following: a report number, name of a person involved in the offense, location of the offense or the date of the offense. There is a $5.00 fee for a copy of the offense report. If requested by mail, please include a $5.00 check/money order made out to the City of Alamo. Call (956) 787-1454 for further assistance. Only the person requesting this information can obtain it. In order to obtain the information, you must appear in person at the Alamo Police Department. You must be a resident of Alamo for 6 (six) months and have a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID card. There is a $5.00 fee for each report or letter. The division is responsible for the following investigations and police services:
HB 1927 Effective September 1, 2021
Caption: Relating to provisions governing the carrying of a firearm by a person who is 21 years of age or older and not otherwise prohibited by state or federal law from possessing the firearm and to other provisions related to the carrying, possessing, transporting, or storing of a firearm or other weapon; creating criminal offenses.
Authorizes the unlicensed carrying of firearms by a person who is 21 years of age or older and not otherwise prohibited by state or federal law from possessing the firearm.
Also addresses specific prohibited locations and the manner in which firearms may be carried.
Amends Penal Code Section 30.05 to authorize the posting of a sign by a property owner to exclude the possession of unlicensed firearms (licensed handgun possession remains a defense to prosecution).
Unlicensed carry on the physical premises of schools and educational institutions is prohibited under Penal Code Section 46.03. Does not change the “campus carry” provisions requiring possession of an LTC and requiring the license holder carry concealed.
License holders who accidentally carry a handgun in the security area of an airport are provided a defense to prosecution not available to unlicensed carriers. Additionally, arrest of a license holder is prohibited if the individual exits the area immediately upon notification.
Prohibitions against carrying in alcohol establishments (51%), hospitals, amusement parks, or collegiate sporting events, do not apply to LTC holders if they are not provided effective notice. Notice is not otherwise required to prohibit unlicensed carry in these locations.
Please make proper arrangements when planning to conduct business at city facilities. For more information visit the DPS website.
