2nd Annual Walking Southern Roads to Freedom

Join us for the 2nd Annual Walking Southern Roads to Freedom, February 27 through March 1, 2026. This powerful three day journey retraces the path of self emancipators who traveled through southern Hidalgo County and crossed the Rio Grande in pursuit of freedom.

Participants may register for one day or complete the full walk. The experience is free and open to the community.

Day 1 begins at Alamo Central Park

Day 2 continues from Webber Cemetery to Jackson Ranch Church

Day 3 travels to the City of Hidalgo and across the International Bridge to Reynosa, Mexico
