Groundbreaking Ceremony for Alaniz Villagomez All-Inclusive Park

The City of Alamo is proud to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for the Alaniz Villagomez All-Inclusive Park, 423 N. Tower Rd., on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 10:30 am. This $1.85 million project, funded by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), the City of Alamo, Alamo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), and private contributions, marks a transformative step toward creating an accessible and inclusive recreational space for all residents.
Alaniz Park will be the first fully inclusive park in eastern Hidalgo County, offering amenities such as an all-inclusive playground, Bankshot courts, fitness stations, a butterfly garden, a multipurpose sports field, and tennis and pickleball courts. The park will provide a safe, welcoming environment for children with disabilities and their families, as well as resources for adults and first responders to improve physical fitness and well-being.
This groundbreaking event celebrates the beginning of construction, with completion expected by September 2025. These upgrades not only address the community’s needs but also bring economic, social, and wellness benefits to the City of Alamo and the Rio Grande Valley.
