Alamo Board of Commissioners Canvasses Results of 2022 Election

The City of Alamo Board of Commissioners has officially canvassed the results of this year’s election. Both propositions on the ballot were passed by voters in the city.

– Proposition A : Will set term limits for the offices of Mayor, Commissioner, and Municipal Court Judge. A person will only be able to serve in each of these positions for 3 terms.

– Proposition B: Will make changes to the city charter concerning the hiring of Fire Department personnel. The Fire Chief will be appointed by a majority vote of the Alamo Board of Commissioners while other new Fire Department personnel will undergo an internal hiring process. Previously the city charter stated that all Fire Department personnel had to be approved by majority vote of the Alamo Board of Commissioners, no matter the position. This change will have only the Fire Chief be appointed by the Alamo Board of Commissioners and all other new fire department personnel undergo an internal hiring process that includes a background check, interview, skill test, etc.
