In preparation for the Artic Cold Blast arriving to the Rio Grande Valley later this week, PSJA ISD in partnership with the American Red Cross and the cities of Pharr, San Juan, and Alamo will be opening numerous schools as warming shelters for the community starting on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022 at 5:00 PM.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided. Pets are welcomed. Shelters will open at 5:00 PM on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022.
All individuals seeking shelter are encouraged to bring their own blankets, pillows, medications, personal toiletries, and their pets on leashes.
PSJA ISD will be closely monitoring the inclement weather and is considering opening additional school shelters based on need.
